Take Care of Yourself, Be Kind

It would be odd if I didn’t comment on the current status of the world here. Going about “business as usual” has turned out to be very unusual lately and frankly a tad bit scary. I don’t want to add too much to all the noise that I am sure you’re experiencing but I hope that you all are taking care of yourselves. Be kind to others, take time to try to calm down and clear your head if you can, and check in on those you love. I find that staying busy with projects and going on walks help, but there are still moments where I let my thoughts get a little too serious and things start to get heavy - I don’t think I’m alone in this.

So here’s just a little reminder for you to stay hydrated, try to eat healthy if you can, and stay home. If you need help - reach out. I don’t know what the future will look like but I do know there are things we can do to help each other get through all of this.

Skate Girls

Style is something that is constantly evolving and it's one of my favorite aspects of fashion. Sure, there are trends that circle and come back around, but the ability to change your style and your fashion at the drop of a hat is pretty cool. Urban Outfitters has been putting out content lately regarding their Spring Collection 2017. It surrounds this skate vibe - specifically inspired by skate girls. 

Growing up with a brother and a desire to be more like him I was always wearing hand-me-downs and brands that were geared more towards male identifying individuals. I still like wearing those clothes and am typically much more comfortable in them. That's why I think this new series from UO is so cool. It's skate street style made just a little more mainstream, but the ads don't seem all girly with pink and sparkly barbies - you know?

Hello and Welcome

I'm happy to finally announce the official grand opening of Sonder Explorations. As many of you may know this has been an exciting journey thus far and will only continue to grow. If you have not yet read the "about" section and would like a little more explanation to the wording of this company here you go...

Sonder n.

- the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own  - populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries, and inherited craziness - an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you'll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lightened window at dusk (According to The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows).

Essentially, I have had this feeling many times as I'm sure you have as well. It has always fascinated me to the point that I wish I could have a closer look into the lives of others, an exploration. However, in the vastness that is the experience of life I believe that many things can ignite the feeling of sonder. A coffee cup whose handle has been held by numerous people in various situations and times. A historic building that has endured time and events unseen in the present. A belonging of sentiment that has been in someones life for a very long time or part of family possession. All of these things can stir up a feeling of sonder and even a curiosity. 

My hope is that you will join me in these explorations and that, if I may, can share the sonder with you through the arts.
